In this 2 hour workshop, you'll learn to make beautiful rainbow vessels! Previous throwing experience required.
You'll learn to wedge colored clay, then throw a vessel in the marbling/neriage/agateware method. Get ready to let go of control and see where the clay takes you!
You'll be able to practice first with regular clay, then throw with the colored clay. You'll have 3 pounds of colored clay to work with and we will bisque fire, dip in clear, and fire again for you. You'll be able to pick them up approximately 2 weeks later. Workshop comes with a total of 3 pounds of clay in a mix of the following colors (1/4 to 1/2 # of each color): red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. We have purchased an equal amount of each color, so we cannot accommodate color changes.
Please note that this event takes place at our new studio in RiNo at 3377 Blake St.,

For this Valentine's Day, we are offering several one-time classes in handbuilding! Choose from Feb 13, 14, or 15.
Bring a friend, partner, or just yourself for a fun evening of creating in clay. Make one of our projects or your own - trinket dishes, plant pockets, cheese boards, mugs, and more!
You may bring your own drinks and snacks and enjoy a relaxing 2 hours of making something out of clay without the hassle of the potter's wheel. We have tons of projects to choose from or bring your own ideas with you!
See our Pinterest board of ideas!
Handbuilding is a traditional method of creating with clay in which you use your hands and a slab of clay instead of a potter's wheel. If you're new to pottery, this is a very approachable way to get to know clay as an artistic medium.
In this one-evening class you will have access to our white stoneware clay, all of our handbuilding tools and textures, and a selection of underglazes and glazes. Included in the class cost is 400 cubic inches of space (approximately a shoe box) and if you're on a roll and want to make more, then it's just $10 to fill another one.
Everything you make can be food safe!
About the Teachers
Feb 13 and 15 taught by Teal, Feb 14 taught by Roxane.
Have you always wanted to try gold luster? Want to add a little bling to your pottery?
Join us for a special morning with our very own Anna Sage to learn how to apply gold luster to your glazed pieces.
Bring along work you made that has been glaze fired (luster is a 3rd firing) and you will receive enough gold luster to add design elements to your pieces. The cost of this workshop includes instruction, luster, and firing for 2-4 pieces (approximately 400 cubic inches).
Workshop is limited to 10 people and pre-registration is required.
Notes: Luster isn't meant to completely cover your pottery, and once it has been fired will no longer be microwave safe.
Come to Community Clay on the First Friday of December and enjoy drinks, snacks, and holiday shopping.
Additionally, contribute to a Community Coil - a giant planter for the outside of our building!
