We’d love to have you join our growing community! To become a member, you’ll need to feel confident working independently - this includes wedging, throwing or handbuilding, trimming, and glazing without supervision.
If you’ve completed the equivalent of our Continuing class (here or elsewhere), you’ve likely got the skills you need.
Fill out the application and come for a tour!
Membership is $250/mo.
You can signup for just one month if you want. However, as soon as your membership is canceled, we will move on to the next person in the waitlist and you will forfeit your spot. You may pause your membership for one month per calendar year.
Membership may be canceled or paused by contacting Community Clay via email at info@communityclaydenver.com. Please notify Community Clay at least ten days before you wish your membership to end.

Parking in our little corner of the River North Arts District generally isn't bad. We do not have a parking lot, however if you have mobility issues, you may use a staff parking spot.
We would call someone a "production potter" if they are making more than 25 items a month. If you think you will be producing this much, please let us know and we can let you know if we are able to accommodate your work while continuing to support our students and other members.
That said, you can always do your production work offsite and hire out one of our kilns for your firings, as available.
We may be able to help you offset some of the cost with work trade doing things like cleaning. However, we are currently only hiring experienced teachers.
Yes, you may bring drinks and snacks. We have a refrigerator you can store things in while you are working. If you consume alcohol and disturb others, we reserve the right to ask you to leave.
Sorry, you cannot. We occasionally have a staff member's studio dog, but other pets are not allowed. Let us know if you require a service dog and we will of course accommodate!
Yes! You must allow 15-30 minutes to clean up when done working.
The general rule is: everything should be as you found it or better.
Cleaning includes wiping down wheel, wheel basin, stool, your bucket, tools, mopping the floor surrounding your wheel, as well as putting everything back as you found it (stool and pedal up, tools put away, etc.).
If you use the extruder, all dies must be cleaned, dried, and put away, and the barrel must be wiped down.
With a membership, we provide ^5-7 BMX from Rocky Mountain Clay. It is a white stoneware that is very compatible with most commercial glazes. We also provide Dover handbuilding clay and Speckled Buff, also from Rocky Mountain.
Members may bring in their own clay to use, with approval.
We only recycle BMX and Dover. Any other clays must be reclaimed by members.
We have electric kilns that we generally fire to ^04 for bisque and ^6 for glaze. If you need another temperature, you will likely have to hire an entire kiln (or find some friends to share it with you!). If you are interested in having some of your work fired, please visit our Kiln Firing Services page.
Built in 1909, it’s called the “Pattern Shop” because it was an industrial pattern shop for 80 years. It was purchased in 1990 and was made into a live/work space for the artist Sharon Brown and her husband, Rex. They lived there until 2023. It was the first art gallery in RiNo and they were founding members of the RiNo Art District.
